Finalists for award
It's down to two. Either BB&T BallPark in Charlotte (left) or Southwest University Park in El Paso (right) will be the Baseballparks.com Ballpark of the Year. The winner will be announced in the Aug. 6 issue of Sports Weekly.
Ballpark food in the spotlight

Big League ballpark notes
The Braves announced that their partners in developing the land around the to-be-built new ballpark (left) are Fuqua Development, Pope & Land Enterprises and Pollock Shores. The baseball stadium will open in 2017. For a look at the latest renderings of the area surrounding the new park, go here ... In time for the All Star Game at Target Field: self-service beer dispensing machines ... Sports Illustrated examines Monument Park in Yankee Stadium ... Apparently, the A's have agreed to a lease extension to remain in O.co Coliseum through 2025. There appears to be an out clause should the team get a badly needed new ballpark prior to then ... Everything is bigger in Texas, and the Rangers make sure the concession items are super-sized, too. New additions include a two-foot-long skewer called Kaboom Kabob and the Tanaco, a 24-inch long hard-shell taco.
